£11.40

Baumit DuoContact is a universal, cement-based adhesive and leveling compound used for thermal insulation systems, particularly with expanded polystyrene (EPS) boards.
It is suitable for both interior and exterior use, provides excellent adhesion, and is resistant to cracking.
    • Baumit DuoContact adhesive and putty mortar
A cost-effective and robust solution for bonding and rendering insulation boards, praised for its vapor permeability and ease of application.
    • Application: Used for gluing thermal insulation boards (polystyrene and mineral wool) and for creating a reinforcing base coat with a glass fiber mesh. It is also suitable for repairs on sound cement-lime plaster and concrete surfaces.
    • Properties: It is vapor permeable, resistant to cracking, water-repellent (after hardening), and frost-resistant.
    • Coverage: A 25kg bag covers approximately 3.5sqm per bag as a basecoat at 6mm or 4.5sqm per bag when used as an adhesive
    • Working Time: The processing time is approximately 1.5 hours after mixing.
    • Drying Time: A minimum drying time of 5–7 days is required.
    • Packaging: Typically sold in 25 kg bags.
Application Instructions
  1. Preparation: Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free from loose material. The surface should be sound cement-lime plaster or concrete older than 28 days.
  2. Mixing: Pour the dry mixture into clean water (approximately 5-6 liters of water per 25kg bag). Mix with a slow-speed mixer, allow the mixture to rest for about 5 minutes, and then stir again.
  3. Application (Adhesive): Apply the mixture to the insulation boards (e.g., EPS boards).
  4. Application (Base Coat): For the reinforcing layer, apply the material using a toothed trowel and embed a Baumit StarTex glass-fiber reinforcing mesh into the wet mortar.
  5. Finishing: After slight drying of the first layer, apply a second thin layer. Once sufficiently dry, smooth the surface with a suitable float.
  6. Curing: Allow the product to dry for a minimum of 5-7 days before further finishing work.
